NM Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission Commemorative Community Activity Award ApplicationDeadline for Receipt of Application: November 6th Annually The mission of the New Mexico Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission includes promoting the Dr. King Holiday through remembrance, celebration, and action – to create a day of reflection on the principles of non-violent social change as espoused by Dr. King. The MLK, Jr. Commission provides advice, assistance, information, and guidelines for the preparation of MLK, Jr. commemorative activities throughout the state. The MLK, Jr. Community Activity Awards are established to assist non-profit organizations in promoting the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. AwardsThe funding of Commemorative Community Activity Awards is contingent on available appropriations and funding availability. Mandatory requirements will be reviewed to establish the eligibility of the applicant to receive the award. All funding given to students as scholarships must be awarded under the name of the New Mexico Martin Luther King, Jr. State Commission. Award funding range is up to – $1500.00 Per Organization. SelectionA MLK, Jr. Commission may designate a subcommittee to review applications to: (1) assure applications considered met all mandatory requirements for funding eligibility and (2) evaluate applications and recommend funding levels based on established evaluation criteria approved by the Commission and funding availability. The Commission Subcommittee will forward its recommendations to the full MLK, Jr. Commission. The Commission will determine final approval of eligible applicants and funding allocations at a regular meeting.
